Abstract The range of blank-holding force (BHF) for which deep drawing AA1100-H24 is successful investigated using a combination experiments and simulations. involve circular blanks three different diameters: 35 mm, 37 mm 40 mm. thickness the 0.51 These are drawn with punch 20 diameter, i.e., at ratios 1.75, 1.85 2.0, respectively, custom, modular forming apparatus where BHF can be controlled will, between 0 2,400 N. performed in an Instron 8872 servo-hydraulic frame that allows precise measurements displacement. working envelopes determined experimentally space draw depth, categorized into regimes: wrinkling, safe tearing. It found grey zones exist regimes. then simulated Abaqus/Standard, two types elements: axisymmetric shell. In latter case, plastic anisotropy introduced, Yld2000-2D anisotropic yield function. Wrinkling tearing failure triggered by inducing suitable geometric imperfections. shown models able to reproduce well. This serves as verification modelling framework, used simulations more complex processes.
